Learning objectives

You gain insights about the impact of ideas and conceptions about sexe and gender on cultural expressions, art and representation.
You understand, apply and formulate these ideas and conceptions using examples from the arts. You recognize dynamics and ideology that permeate within the arts.
You develop and refine a critical and inquiring attitude in relation to cultural expressions, de male gaze and the role of feminism in the art.
You reflect critically on your own practice.

Subject matter

- History of feminist theory, history of feminist art theory, and this in relation to history of feminist art. 
- Overview of feminist artists. 
- Contemporary challenges, debates and questions in feminist theory and art.

You read before each course the relevant texts to be able to participate actively during the course.
You prepare field excursions (reading, research and critical thinking).

You choose a subject of your choice within the course and elaborate this alone or in duo. You present and discuss this subject before the class.
